Only the longest, most dedicated Metroid Dread fans will remember the old announcement of Metroid Dread that came 15 years ago. Surprisingly at E3 2021 Nintendo introduced the game again with plenty of juicy details to dig into. But fear not, the developers, MercurySteam and Nintendo EPD promised that Metro Dread will be a beginner-friendly entry to the series. Why not continue reading and see what Metroid Dread brings to the table before Samus makes her return.
You can still play Metroid Dread if you’ve missed the previous game Metroid Fusion, basically the plot features Samus exploring a space station infected with a mysterious X parasite, which has also infected Samus and had to be cured with Metroid cells. At the end of the game she eradicated the parasites by crashing the parasite homeworld. So after the events of the Metroid Fusion game, bounty hunter Samus Aran’s story continues in Metroid Dread where you will be playing as Samus in another new suit, entering planet ZDR hunted by the ominous E.M.M.I. enemies and investigates mysterious transmissions sent to the Galactic Federation.

In Metroid Dread, basically you get to explore the gameworld, which features a large, sprawling game world full of alternate paths and locked doors. As you explore and fight your way through the world, you’ll acquire new weapons and abilities, opening up more potential paths in exploring the core of the planet ZDR. Unlike in Fusion, the AI version of Adam will no longer give you orders on how to play, Samus will have total freedom to explore on her terms and you are encouraged to bring Samus to try new fighting strategies, while sporting a mixture of classic abilities and new additions to her arsenal.
Just like any Mario, Zelda, or Pokémon game, your only choice to get these games is on Nintendo hardware. In a sterile, slightly scary environment crawling with creatures and robots, Samus is back with more agility and capability than ever, but can she overcome the inhuman threats tracking down the depths of ZDR? On 8 October 2021, help Samus to explore the ZDR in her Metroid Dread comeback!
