In just one week, the long-awaited Pokemon Arceus is coming! Apparently this Pokemon Arceus marks a new direction of the Pokemon series, let’s check out what they have for us this season!
When does Pokemon Legends: Arceus release?
All of you who have been waiting for this, must have known the release date of the Pokemon Arceus. But still, don’t forget to mark your calendar! It’s launching exclusively for Nintendo Switch on the 28 Jan 2022!
What is Pokemon Legends: Arceus?
Pokemon Legends: Arceus is the next big Pokemon adventure – another main entry in the series, after the last Pokemon Sword and Shield. It is also to be said the new and bold direction of the Pokemon series, infusing new action and RPG elements while maintaining the essence of gameplay.
Something little different from other Pokemon series, this time the Pokemon Arceus will be taking us back to the earliest point in the series history, to an area known as the Hisui region, which will eventually become the Sinnoh region.
This game is set in a region before the idea of Pokemon training or having a Pokemon League became popular. During your adventure, what you need to do is to explore this region, catch Pokemon and create the first ever Pokedex for this region. This will mean a collection of discovering and observing every single Pokemon in the Sinnoh region, to build out that Pokemon Legends: Arceus Pokedex as part of the new Galaxy team’s Survey Corps.
For the starter Pokemon, you will be offered the choice between Rowlet, Oshawott, and Cyndaquil. Somehow there is a subtle link between these three starters that fits the feudal theme running throughout the game and its story.
Despite the larger scope and setting as compared to previous games, the Pokemon company has clarified that this won’t be a fully open world.
As a new approach to the Pokemon series, The new Pokemon Legends game combines the series’ traditional RPG mechanics with real-time action sequences to create a new, fast-paced action-RPG experience. You will begin your adventure in Jubilife Village, the home base, where you get to survey and accept missions that will then bring you to more open sections of the game world.
In the Hisui region, you’ll have the chance to explore and experience diverse natural environments, and various terrain types and weather conditions including snowy climbs, rainfall over lush green vistas, and desert lands.
You’ll be able to go on excursions to observe Pokemon in their natural habitats. In various locations, you’ll be able to learn more about how they live to build up your Pokedex. You can also catch these monsters by observing them and throwing a PokeBall in real-time. Different Pokemon will react in various ways to your presence, some might be more prone to flee, so you can instead use the long grass to quietly approach them. There are also aggressive Pokemon who you’ll have to battle in order to catch them.
What’s new in Pokémon Legends: Arceus?
New Galaxy Team
The Galaxy Expedition Team, aka the Galaxy Team, is a group of Characters from different regions around the world who have come together to study the Hisui region and the Pokemons in Pokemon: Legends Arceus. Each division has a different leader who you’ll meet during your adventures. So as the protagonist of Pokemon Legends: Arceus game, you’ll join the Galaxy Team as a member of the Survey Corps.
The list of Galaxy Team members:
- Akari and Rei – A Survey Corps member who is similar your age and has been with the team for quite some time, the appearance you’ve chosen in the beginning will determine your fellow team member to be either Akari or Rei
- Professor Laventon – One of the members who investigates the Pokemon’s mode of life, and aims to create a complete Pokedex. He is also the one who brings the starter Pokemons to Jubilife.
- Commander Kamado – Oversees the entire Survey Corps team, aka the Boss
- Captain Cyllene – Leader of the team who watches over your progress
New Battle Moving Styles
Pokemon Legends: Arceus introduces Agile and Strong Styles that would affect turn order and attack power depending on the selected style at the cost of more PP.
Agile style: Using a move in the Agile Style raises your action speed, which may make your next turn come sooner, but lowers the move’s power.
Strong style: On the other hand, using a move in the Strong Style raises the move’s power, but your Pokémon’s action speed will be lowered.
The normal moves your Pokemon knows will still be available to use without the added bonuses of using a particular style. This is useful for low-level, wild Pokemon so that you can save up on PP for your other moves.
New Hisuian Variants and Evolutions
Pokemon Legends: Arceus will introduce us to new Hisuian variants, to be found in the upcoming adventures.
Some Pokémon have Hisuian forms that can be found only in the Hisui region. These Pokémon’s Hisuian forms each have unique characteristics.
Hisuian Zorua & Zoroark
Most exciting of all is the fact that you can ride some of these Pokemon in the new game and explore the world on land, in the sky, and even underwater.
